Academic Philosophy

Blaze combines the study of Culture, Literature, English, the Arts, and Rhetoric (CLEAR). CLEAR curriculum is rigorous and encourages scholars to master skills, acquire knowledge, and think critically, creatively, and independently. Scholars communicate their learning through speaking and writing, with a strong emphasis on the mastery of proper conventions of the English language and the effective use of visual aids.
Scholars engage in the analysis of classic and modern literature, world cultures, history, physical and cultural geography, and current events, exchanging ideas in respectful discourse and applying critical thinking to real-world challenges. Frequent integration of CLEAR and STEM through school-wide, project-based learning opportunities allows students to explore concepts in depth.

Our approach to STEM learning is a priority in every classroom, with elements of STEM woven throughout content areas and academic experiences. Students use technology, authentic real-world experiences, and the Hill Country's natural resources to develop deep conceptual understanding and find new applications of STEM concepts.
-
Scholars implement what they learn in the classroom by applying it to the real world. This includes academically rigorous hands-on activities such as: sample collection and data analysis for science projects, addressing social issues by partnering with local businesses, pop-up business concepts, and more.

Scholars are taught to think beyond themselves in order to learn empathy, consider their potential impact, and ultimately practice compassion as responsible stewards of the world around us. This requires high standards of respect and behavior with one another, integrity, personal accountability, and cultivation of one's God-given talents in order to make a positive difference in the world.
