Admissions

1 - Join an Info Session

  • Blaze info sessions are on Thursdays from 8:45am - 9:45am at Blaze School.

Come learn about our curriculum, meet our teachers and students, and get a feel for if Blaze School is a fit for your child.

Sessions are generally held weekly through the Spring. Please register below to attend.

  • To register for an info session, please email info@BlazeSchool.org to hold a spot. Once we receive your registration, we’ll send directions and next steps.

We look forward to meeting you!

2 - Complete Your Application

  • These forms reflect a typical quantitative application, with basic information about your child’s previous school experiences.

We also ask scholars to complete a writing sample in order to round out the application with real-time writing skills.

  • Most schools use standard means of measuring student progress (e.g., ERB and STAAR). We ask that you provide recent test results and report cards, as well as examples of your scholar’s recent work.

If you’re coming from an environment that hasn’t used standardized assessments, we have other tools we can use to help understand your scholar’s core strengths and academic levels.

3 - Attend a Shadow Day

  • Once the application is reviewed, scholars who meet entrance criteria (including academic and character-based standards) are invited for a shadow day at the ranch.

Shadow Days are typically held on Fridays once a month from 10am-3:30pm. Once invited, we will work with your scholar to set a date.

  • After the shadow day, the age-level teachers and head of school will set up time with parents to debrief and discuss next steps.

At this time, we may ask you to choose 1-2 mentors, coaches, and/or teachers who can describe the motivation, academic abilities, behavior, and character of your scholar.

Once the application process is complete, an invitation is extended if the scholar will excel at Blaze. At this time we will review the Blaze Community Contract that guides our school culture, such as a commitment to integrity, maintaining a growth mindset, and commitment to servant leadership in the Blaze community.

If an invitation is not extended, we will discuss programming and support to help your student find a best program for him/her and/or to prepare for future acceptance into Blaze.
